This tool is used to attract and retain high-level talent in startups that, in the beginning, do not have the cash to pay salaries as high as large corporations. For the employee to be entitled to convert their options into real shares, they must fulfill the period of <\/span><b>Vesting<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is the minimum length of time you must stay with the company (usually 4 years). ESOP aligns the financial interests of employees with those of the partners, as the employee will only have a significant financial gain if the company appreciates and is sold in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Practical Example:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Uma startup contrata um Diretor de Tecnologia (CTO) e oferece, al\u00e9m do sal\u00e1rio, um ESOP de 2% da empresa com um per\u00edodo de vesting de 4 anos e um Cliff de 1 ano. Isso significa que, se o CTO sair antes de completar 1 ano, ele n\u00e3o recebe nada. Ap\u00f3s o primeiro ano, ele adquire o direito a 0,5% (1\/4 do total) e o restante \u00e9 liberado mensalmente.
